The Villa, situated in the first belt of the Turin hills, inside a huge park, about a hundred metres or so from the river Po and a short distance from the city centre, is the permanent base of prestigious institutions which are active in advanced fields of scientific research and training, such as the analysis and control of complex systems, the study of innovative materials, biotechnologies, astrophysics and space sciences and the basic dynamics of the mechanisms of wealth production. Since 1994 it has been the headquarters of the European Foundation for Training, the first agency instituted in Italy by the European Union, in order to support reform processes in the field of education and professional training in the partner countries of western Europe, in the new independent states and in Mongolia.
